Aare Bier has for many years been specialized in contract brewing (accounting up to 25% of their production): Goldküstenbräu and Oberlanderbräu (until 2012), Lozärnerbier (until 2018), Fischerstube Ueli Winterbogg (2009-2011), Falkenbräu Festbier (until Spring 2014), Züri-Bräu Original (2014). The covid crisis has been the opportunity to obtain more such contracts (Buechibärgerbier, BLZ, Berner Lohnbrauerei, Fäzäbräu). Brews also the Bier-Bienne beers. The company has 7 employees and offers 4 core beers in german styles and every leap year - well, in any case, rarely - some one-shots. Brews on a 20 hl installation. Good quality but - by far - not enough diversity. Member of the Swiss Breweries Association since 2021." This brewery believes in the myth of the Reinheitsgebot.

Founded in 1863 by Gottfried Egger at his return from the USA (where he also just founded a brewery), this brewery is nowadays run by the 6th generation. With about 15 employees this enterprise took advantage of the closure of the Gurten brewery and reached a peak of production with 30'000 hl in 1997. Unfortunately a lack of reaction to the new beer trends as well as an outdated traditional corporate image led Egger to continual decrease of the production output (nowadays probably around 15'000 hl). Offers almost exclusively traditional german-styles beers and limited editions called ""small batch"". To counter these problems the brewery cuts some jobs and is outsourcing is production in Appenzell (Locher) since 2020. But a new plant should be built during the next months."

After reaching a production high of 25'000 hl during the 60s and the 70s, it dropped drastically to 8'000 (~2005) before increasing again impressively to 25'000 again (2018). Since 2002 the logistic is handled by Heineken. Despite being conservative (don't look for craft beer styles here) this brewery bases its success upon taking advantage of the trend to drink local beers as well as upon a clever marketing." This brewery believes in the myth of the Reinheitsgebot.

This more than 150 years old family-owned brewery started in 1866, founded by Christian Indermühle. His two sons were forced to sell it to the family Hofweber (at that time owner of Schloss Reichenbach in Zollikofen). In 1935 both breweries (the one in Interlaken and the one in Zollikofen) merged to create the “J.Hofweber & Cie AG und Gebr. Horn”. It's in 1968 that Rugenbräu AG was born and three years later that the plant in Zollikofen was closed. Rugenbräu has nowadays about 60 employees and has seen its production increasing after the closure of the Gurten brewery in the late nineties. It is no more the case recently, as the total lack of innovation from this brewery is leading it to stagnation (in the best years) or to losses. Brews about 8 core beers in German styles on a 150 hl installation. Expect uninspired and at best average german-style products. In fact this brewery does not give the impression to really care about their beers as it seems more concerned about its own whisky (on the market since 2008) or its soft drinks. The exact production output is undisclosed and the last estimation I have (40'000 hl) is from 2016."
